It was an enrichening experience for the 16 young professionals selected for the ALF Fall 2016 Leadership Initiatives when they met with Juan Verde, President of the Foundation, during a breakfast session last Friday, 16th September 2016.
Held in Washington D.C., the informal meet and greet focused on welcoming the participants to the empowering yet fun internship training in one of the most influential cities in the world. While there, Juan had the oppurtunity to share his experience with them and give them advice on how to increase their learning experience in their different internship sites as well as provide anwsers to questions. The participants of the Fall 2016 cohort were selected by four different institutions: Fundación Cajasol, Fundación INCYDE, Fundación MAPFRE Guanarteme and the Diputación de Ourense. As such they funded tailor-made Leadership Initiatives that focus on and aim to benefit different target groups.
The 16 young professionals are carrying out their internships across diverse industries catering to their areas of interest and university studies – Public Service (Amber Road, DC Law Students in court, Maryland Women’s Business Center, DC Department of Small & Local Business Development, DSLBD) to Social Causes (International Center for Missing & Exploited Children, Special Olympics), Development (Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate Premier, Inscape Publico), Finance (Inter-American Development Bank, The Consumer Goods Forum), Venture Capital (1776 DC) and Technology (AceCaliber).
